The Unfinished Symphony

As a musician, I absolutely love unfinished pieces. It always gives you something to think about - to wonder how the piece was going to continue and end. Usually another composer or friend of the composer finishes the piece, but the style and feeling is different. Here is a classic example of a wonderful unfinished piece: Schubert's Unfinished Symphony.

Mozart's Requiem "Lacrimosa" (his final piece) is another example of an unfinished piece, but instead of left unfinished, the piece was completed by his student. Mozart last note and voice written in his piece was "sa!" (Lacrimo"sa"). From then on, his student completed the piece. You can hear immediately when Mozart stopped writing the piece.
